(2nd day) Tuesday
Since we've decided the idea for the 1st shot and gotten approval from Mr. Leong in day 1.
I started to find reference images for the toy plane model to aid me in modeling it.
These are some of the images that I've found.
I then decided to start modeling in Houdini as i could set-up controls to adjust the width and it would be easier to make changes. At least that's what I thought at that moment....

(3rd day) Wednesday
Today, i came to the lab and then start planning how exactly to cut and fold this cardboard box.
To get to something that looks like a remote control for a toy plane.

Next, Praveen , Han Jie and I went to scout for location and took test shots at Lower Seletar Reseirvor.
Actually we planned to film the actual shot today, but due to the fact that another group had borrowed the blue screen before us, we weren't able to do that. At the Reservoir we found a suitable spot, took test shots and decided on the camera angle. Lastly we when back to school to help Chun Wei and Shahril with the 2nd shot.

(4th day) Thursday
Today, we went back to Lower Seletar Reseirvor to film the actual shot. & this time round we've gotten the blue screen. The shooting went really smoothly, i guess that's cause we've already done test shot the day before and we had everything in mind. Then we headed back to school where we reviewed the shots taken just to make sure there wasn't any mistakes. I helped Praveen a little with the Rotoscoping and then finish up with my plane model.

(5th day) Friday
For today, I textured the plane model that I've completed yesterday.
I then proceed on with modeling a building that is going to be place in the background. Gave it a simple cardboard texture and that's all for the week.

(6th day) Monday
I created a rig for the plane because it will be animated. I also wrote a simple expression for the plane propeller to rotate.
Start researching and looking for reference images of Ferris wheel.
These are some of the images I've found.
I then start to model the Ferris wheel based on the images I've found.
This is what i managed to complete for the day.

(7th day) Tuesday
I looked for reference images of Cranes and Buildings under construction.
These are some of the images I've found.
I then proceed to model both the Crane and the Build under construction.
That's all for the day.

(8th day) Wednesday
Today, I imported all the models into the Maya scene that we've made and placed it so that it would be of the correct scale to make it fit into the real scene. I also need to re-edit some of the models in the because after importing and trying to fit it into the scene i realised that some parts of the models would move in different directions. After i was done with that i continued to complete arranging the maya scene so that it could be lighted tomorrow.
That's all for today.

(9th day) Thursday
Started off the day by discussing lighting and placement mainly lighting. Did some editing on placement. I then proceed on with animating the toy plane by manually translating and key framing. After trying animating that way i realised, it wasn't the right way to do it as the way the plane moves is not smooth which makes it not realistic.

(10th day) Friday
Learned how to animate an object using curves as a path in Maya and using the graph editor to change the speed to suit the movement. Then tried applying it to the toy plane, had some difficulties.
29/8/2011
(11th day) Monday
Changed the curves, in graph editor to make it smoother. Also imported the animation into the Maya scene of our shot.
Helped with texturing but did not turn out well so Han Jie worked on the textures instead.

(12th day) Tuesday
Render some rough clips and images to test composite and get nodes i need ready. Key out the sky, rotoscoping and such.

(13th day) Wednesday
Today, i did A LOT of compositing, basically from compiling to rotoscoping, color correction, blending everything in.What I've created in nuke.

We stayed back until till around 10+ today just to render , animate the Crane and Ferris wheel.
End of this long day.

(14th day) Thursday
Continue to work on compositing tried rendering and spotted quite a few problems here and there.
The problems....
Then went on to solve the problems, for the plane's shadow i just needed to create a rotoscope and place it at the correct place. for the background with a simple matte paint suggested my Mr. leong and it worked out fine. For the robot, I created the node necessary and Han Jie did the clone stamping.
Final composite nodes I've created.
This was the end result of our hard work.

Also work on the turntables and VFX breakdown.
End of the longest day.
